There is an Igi baptism on 7 August 1791 in Manchester, Lancs for John KIRKWOOD son of Joseph KIRKWOOD and Elizabeth - which has been discounted, as he would be too young for marriage in 1799.
There is also a John KIRKWOOD b. 16 Jul 1768 in Lythe, Yorkshire. (Source: igi). (Lythe is approx 3 miles inland from Whitby). A possible candidate but no real evidence either way.
