Individual Note

Watson REDDIHOUGH born in 1851 was the seventh of twelve children. His father was David REDDIHOUGH, then a Farmer, and his mother was Matty REDDIHOUGH nee HEATON. By 1861 aged 9 Watson was already working as a Worsted Spinner in a Factory, but by 1871 aged 19 had progressed to be an Overlooker in a Worsted Factory. In 1874 aged 22 he married Elizabeth TOWNEND, a Worsted Power Loom Weaver. Watson REDDIHOUGH and Elizabeth had 7 children, 4 of whom survived infancy. One of those 4 children was Percival REDDIHOUGH born at 19 Carlton Street, Haworth on 03-Oct-1892. Watson was shown working as a Worsted Weaver in 1881 and 1891, but then became a Tenant Farmer at Higher Heights Farm, Cullingworth by 1901, and was recorded as a Dairy Farmer there in 1911. Watson REDDIHOUGH died at Cullingworth in 1915 aged 64, and was survived by his wife.
