Elizabeth Townend was born in Haworth in 1853. Elizabeth was the third of nine children. Her father was James Townend, a Wool Comber, and her mother was Martha Townend nee Holmes. By 1861 aged 8 Elizabeth was working in a Worsted Factory. By 1871 aged 18 Elizabeth was working as a Worsted Power Loom Weaver in Haworth. In 1874 aged 21 she married Watson Reddihough, Overseer in a Worsted Factory. Watson and Elizabeth had 7 children, 4 of whom survived childhood. Percival Reddihough born in 1892 was one of the survivors. Elizabeth went on to be a Farmers wife when Watson became a Tenant Farmer around 1901. Elizabeth was widowed in 1915, and died herself in Haworth in 1938 aged 85.
